Bullies Suck

The other week school bullying made headlines after a kid who was being bullied “body slammed”¹ his far younger, far smaller tormentor into the ground.

If you haven’t already seen it its on youtube here. But before you watch it let me explain what happened…

the little kid – a yr 7 student was picking on the bigger yr 10 student who was trying to retreat to the school office to escape the assault. Apparently the smaller kid aka the bully was being egged on by a group of friends…. Finally the victim had enough of it and picked up the bully and slammed him into the ground which resulted in a broken leg. The bully, the victim and the person who video taped it were all suspended from the school

Most people were supportive of the kid who finally retaliated after suffering a long period of taunts and other intimidation from kids at school. Everywhere I’ve reading comments of support for him and his actions – everyone seemed happy to see the bully get fully PWNED.  I must admit I too felt proud that this kid finally stood up for himself … but at the end of the day violence isn’t the solution…. not that I know what the solution is.

When I watch it my stomach just turns. If the smaller kid had his head split open and suffered permanent damage or even worse, if he had died the retaliating victim would’ve destroyed his entire life!! (not to mention the bullies) I worry nearly everyday that my son will finally snap and do some serious damage to the kids that pick on him incessantly, or have some serious damage done to himself.

When I was in boarding school I got bullied – which truly sucked as I didn’t just have to go to school with this girl – I had to live with the bitch as well. Luckily though I never had to deal with cyber bullying… the internet didn’t even exist when I was in high school.

In my son’s case he has suffered the taunts of school bullies and the bullshit threats as well as violence – often really cheap shots, he had his i pod touch nicked out of his bag whilst waiting in the lines for the bus. Another time a student grabbed the tupperwear container from his hands and through it across the playground as though it were a frisbee – destroying the food he had cooked at school and couldn’t wait to bring home to show me… ok now I’m crying. It fucking hurts to have to send my baby out there day after day to put up with this kind of bullshit.

I want to tell him to stand up for himself and not to take their shit…but when you tell a bully to fuck off, or get lost it just acts as fuel to their fire. You ignore them and they follow you, you report it to the school and you get called a pussy… and if they happen to get disciplined they just come back at you harder. Often it results in some form of violence. He was suspended at least twice last year for standing up for himself and punching back when he got hit. I can’t say to him to hit back, I can’t go condoning violence – but I also can’t tell him to do nothing if someone starts punching him.

Thankfully this year he is thinking for himself, he has a great group of friends and the possibility of missing out on the end of year camp to the gold coast has him keeping his hands to himself… but still the bullying bullshit continues. He got punched in the Jaw just last Friday… and the child got suspended for 10 days… I worry about what will happen when those 10 days are up, will he learn a lesson or will his anger just ferment and cause another fight when he returns to school.

Thank God we have anti-gun laws in Australia, I hate to think what would happen if some of these kids… mine included got their hands on a gun.

Today I found out that over the weekend some pathetic person (possibly the kid that was suspended) has created a facebook account impersonating him. It is someone he knows as they have accessed his friends list which is only viewable by people he has added to his facebook friends. One of his school friends told him that they had received a friend request from this account – so he did the right thing and reported it to the deputy principal. Her response “Sorry there’s nothing I can do about it”.

I understand that she can’t police the internet but she could’ve called me to tell me at least. I’ve reported the account to facebook, as has my son. They are so quick to pull down other bloggers and sex toy companies profiles for exhibiting images of sex toys – I just hope they are just as quick to pull this page down.

Tomorrow morning I have to send him back there to face even more of their crap. If anything of this sort were to occur in a workplace the instigator would be fired.. out of there. And if one adult were to hit another adult – the police would be called and assault charges would be brought against the attacker… So why is it that our kids should have to put up with this kind of behaviour in what is essentially their workplace.

Please don’t think for a second that I’m one of these parents that thinks their child can do no wrong – I know my boy can be a little shit when he wants to, some days he even makes my life a living hell. He is far from perfect but he has such a great heart and a kind soul. When he says things to me like “Mum, I try and be as nice as I can to people. If someone needs help I always do whatever I can… So why do I still get treated like crap” it just breaks my heart.

Sorry for the rant, sorry it isn’t all that articulate – I’m just one pissed off and sad mumma bear that’s sick of seeing her baby getting hurt, especially knowing I have to keep sending him back into the fray day after day.

Split Dildo – Sex Toy Review

When I first read about the Split Dildo on Pretty Power Tools I just knew I had to try one. Not only does it work as your average style dildo to quench that particular hunger for having something inside you, it also takes care of your G-Spot AND your PS-Spot with its very unique design. I’m actually quite surprised that someone didn’t come up with this sooner. Despite it being a one of a kind design the concept of sex toys offering dual pleasure has been around for quite a while now. It’s just that they’ve focussed on the G-Spot & clit combination rather than the G-Spot and PS-Spot.

Most people haven’t heard about the PS-Spot before, but it is also known as the Perineal Sponge – thus it gets shortened to the  PS-Spot. It is similar to the G-Spot in that it is erectile tissue that becomes engorged when you are sexually aroused and it is located in the opposite wall of the vaginal canal to its more well known cousin. It sits beneath the perineum, the piece of tissue between the vagina and the anus. It’s nestled in between the vaginal canal and your rectum.

With this in mind STIC created the split dildo. For years sex toy creators have been making curved products to stimulate the G-Spot so they’ve gone one better and created a toy with two curves. One to please each spot.

The Important Info

Size: 16cm/6.25″ long with a shaft circumference of 13cm/5″ at the base. The maximum width between each curved shaft is 12cm/4.5″ at their tips.

Base: 19cm/7.5″ circumference. It is more of an oval shape than a circular one so may not be compatible with harnesses.

The Split Dildo

The things I love most about the split dildo are its size and shape – duh!

The shaft/s are the perfect length for me, it doesn’t slam into my cervix like some longer toys, but gives me that filled right up feeling. The way that the two shafts press on the dual pleasure spots is incredibly satisfying. Its a whole new feeling having them both stimulated at the same time. The kind of feeling that you could only achieve by using two curved toys simultaneously before the split dildo – although its not something I’ve personally tried. STIC have created these images to demonstrate just how this toy does its job…..

With the two shafts bending in the two different directions, one towards your tummy the other towards your back, they each rub against and please their corresponding pleasure spot. I found that thrusting only intensified these feelings more, so starting out slow is a good idea. On the inward thrust I enjoyed the feeling of being opened up as each shaft diverted in its own direction. At the same time the tips both apply pressure, similar to your average G-Spotting toy, but it feels ten times better. On the outward stroke there is another sensation that feels just as good whilst being the total opposite at the same time. This really is a toy you have to try to understand its effect.

I found that using a condom when I started out ‘restrained’ the toy so that it isn’t such an intense sensation as it stopped the toy from applying to much pressure before my body had the chance to warm up. STIC also suggest tying an elastic band around the two shafts to hold them together in between uses as a way of lowering the intensity of the pressure the toy can place on these spots. I haven’t found the need or desire to try that, but I know that even when the two shafts are held together it is still a girthy, filling dildo.

I tend to love things that have more than one purpose and this is a toy with dual.. or even triple uses. It cares for two pleasure spots, can be ‘restrained’ into a more regular shaped dildo and its also useful for intensifying kegel exercises. To give your PC muscles a good work out you can insert the split dildo and use your muscles to push the two shafts together – it’s like a thigh-master for your vag!! Instead of inserting it so that it pushes against the front and back walls I tried it sideways, creating a truly intense workout.

I have a love for slightly above average sized toys and thoroughly enjoy both the large size of the two shafts as well as the strong pressure against my G & PS spots. However if you have had size issues before or simply prefer more slimline toys I wouldn’t recommend this toy for you, but if size has never been an issue you just have to try it out – truly amazing sensations!

The Split Dildo is made in Russia so it does take a little bit longer to arrive than usual, but they supplied me with a tracking number so I was able to see exactly where my parcel was on its journey to me down under. It arrived in a good quality, sturdy shipping box that was covered in Russian writing. The toys packaging is very simple and quite chic. A minimal cardboard box with STIC written on the front, within the split dildo is in a sealed plastic bag – and that’s it, simple simplicity.

The firm yet flexible nature of this toys shafts is made possible by it being made from Silicone. The finish is very soft and slightly velvety, opposed to the shiny finish of some silicone. Most Silicone toys require extra lube (remember water based only), and whilst I used a little more lube than I would with a different material it was nowhere near as much as I would usually use with a silicone dildo.

And there is a great reason why Silicone has become the favourite sex toy material for the majority of reviewers: It’s Phthalate free, Latex free and 100% Body safe. It is non-porous so it can be sterilised and it doesn’t have any kind of funky smell to it. Cleaning is also a breeze – If it is just you using the toy you can simply wash it with soap and warm water, just be sure to get the small spot in between the split shafts at the base. If you wish to share the toy you can boil it, wipe it down with a diluted bleach solution or pop it in the top shelf of the dishwasher.

I feel that the Split Dildo really does tick all of the boxes – its body safe and made from high quality materials, it provides that true, fully filled sensation whilst stimulating two pleasurable areas and it makes one intense Kegel exerciser. It isn’t a toy I pull out at every convenience simply because it is quite intense and requires some warm up, however I do love that I’ve got it in my toy box. Everything considered I feel it deserves a solid 4 out of 5 stars!

Whilst Shakespeare wrote that “a rose by any other name would smell as sweet” in Romeo & Juliet, and boy was he right. This rose by any other name still feels as sweet.

Pipedream Product’s Icicles #12 is a glass dildo designed to look like a single, upstanding rose bud… but without the nasty.prickly thorns. It has a circular, clear glass flat base that’s  just under 2″ across – 5cm . It stands 7.5″ or 19cm high and has a maximum girth of  4″ or 11cm around the rose bud . With the flat base it makes this a glass toy that can be used for regular vaginal enjoyment as well as any anal adventures you might have in mind. As it is glass you can fully sterilise it after anal use – You never, ever, ever want to go from ass to vagina – no matter what you’ve seen in porn. Boil or bleach it after anal use, or just cover it up with a condom,

I truly do enjoy toys that have bulges and ripples in their design. It is as though I feel each and every one as they are worked in and out. I find it far preferable to anything more natural in shape, so it should be of no surprise that I really enjoy this glass dildo. With two, slightly different sized bulges in the shaft and the nicely rounded rosebud tip with its over pronounced collar – well, my vagina is in heaven! If only the male anatomy could compare!

Rose Bud head

The flat, round base gives you something solid to hold onto for thrusting. Even with incredibly lubed up hands I’ve managed to always keep a good hold on it.The rosebud can also be angled for some decent G-Spot action, though I must admit my G-Spot is quite low and easy to access. I found it quite easy to elicit a good, hard, squirting orgasm using this dildo even though it doesn’t feature a curved shaft like the first glass dildo to make me squirt.

Top Of The Rose Bud

One of the major benefits of the Icicles #12 glass dildo is how discreet it looks. You could leave this sitting on the bed side table and any one who saw it would just imagine that it’s an ornament of some type. I have great appreciation for any kind of sex toy that can be hidden in plain sight. I’m also impressed with the detail of the top of the rose bud. You can see and feel each of the rounds of petals. They feel quite delightful if spun directly on the clit or if twirled against the anus. (Just don’t go from anus to vagina without sterilising any toy)

The packaging, whilst acceptable really could’ve been improved upon. I like when glass toys come with silky, sexy, padded storage bags. They just seem to be the perfect touch and I’m a sucker for storage options. It arrives in a rectangular cardboard box with a flip open, book like cover that is held in place by hidden magnets. When you open the cover the toy inside is revealed where it is nestled into a cradle of light weight foam like material. It’s suitable for storing the toy in, but a bit too much of a pain for lazy old me. Mine simply stands on my dresser.

As it is glass this dildo lends itself well to temperature play. You can warm it up or cool it down by running under water of your chosen temperature. Just be careful to test the resulting temperature against the inside of your wrist, or the inside of your bottom lip before using it. I’m not sure what would be worse – frozen pussy or burned pussy! Just don’t go exposing this, or any other glass sex toy to extreme temperatures, or drastic changes in temperature. Glass toys are actually very safe, made from the same kind of glass used in Pyrex cookware – but some extreme circumstances could damage it. It’s also a good idea to give glass toys a quick once over to check for any chips or cracks before use.

It Fits Perfectly In My Hand

Glass has even more benefits as a sex toy material – It’s phthalate free, latex free, 100% body friendly, non-porous and easy to care for. Simple warm water and some disinfecting soap makes for good, quick clean up, but is only suitable if you are the only one using the toy & you aren’t using it for anal use. To disinfect this toy for sharing or after anal use I personally prefer to pop it into boiling water and let it boil for about 5 minutes. You can also put it through the top shelf of the dishwasher – on its own, or soak it in a diluted bleach solution (I’ve found baby bottle steriliser liquid also does a great job).

I am quite enamoured by this pretty rose and have come to prefer it over my previous favourite glass wand. I’m quite hard pressed to find fault with it to be honest. My only whinge is that there isn’t a pretty storage bag to keep it in. I feel like I give a positive and high score to every toy I’ve reviewed thus far, but I promise they are all true and honest ratings. I believe that as a sex toy Pipedream’s Icicles #12 really does deserve a 5 out of 5 star rating. It doesn’t have a whole bunch of bells and whistles – rather it does one job and it does it well.

International Women’s Day

I Celebrated by doing what only a Woman can

March 8th is International Women’s day and this year is the 100th anniversary of the very first International Women’s day – well it is being celebrated as the day’s centenary despite the fact that the day was first celebrated on March 19th 1908. It is only since 1977 that International Women’s day has consistently been celebrated on March 8th.

In some countries it is recognised by a public holiday – Oh how I wish Australia would take up this tradition! But even in places that don’t celebrate by giving everyone a day off there are plenty of other events and activities which one can participate in to commemorate the day.

Personally I didn’t know anything about International Women’s day until 1997, a year upon which I celebrated the occasion by doing something only a woman can do  – by giving birth.

14 yrs ago today, after almost 48hrs of excruciating labour I somehow managed to deliver a healthy 10 and a half pound baby boy. He came out looking like a 3 moth old rather than a tiny newborn, but it wasn’t all that much of a surprise considering how huge my belly was.

I was incredibly lucky when I was pregnant as I got to share the entire experience with one of my best friends. She also had a little boy who was born at home in the bath tub after a very quick 3 hour labour. You can see from the photo of the two of us below just how HUGE my belly was compared to her regular sized one. It was taken 1 week before our boys were born¹

So Happy International Women’s Day to all my fellow females, and Happy Birthday to my (not so) little baby boy – watching you turning into an amazing young man is becoming one of the greatest joys of my life xx And for any jealous men out there don’t fret too much as there is also an International Men’s day on November 19th.

Made To Pleasure: Pearl – Sex Toy Review

I’m such a very lucky girl as Made To Pleasure sent me my very own ‘Pearl‘ to take for a test drive, and review for you.

The Important Info

The Review

The first thing that struck me as unique and luxurious about my Made To Pleasure sex toy was the package handed to me by the delivery person. It is a specially designed shipping box that fully envelops the box housing the toy, ensuring that no matter where on earth you are your MTP sex toy arrives safely in your hands. After unzipping the cardboard box what I found inside felt just like a birthday present. Wrapped up in soft black tissue paper that was held closed with a made to pleasure logo sticker – It was a special touch that made me feel kinda special and just goes to show that this company are willing to go that extra step and add those extra little details that are required to take a sex toy company truly into the luxury league.

After unwrapping my gift I found my treasure – a beautiful shade of deep grey box which when I removed the lid presented me with the pearl. I counted the curves up along the shaft. 5 gradually larger spherical shapes that I knew I was going to just love. For me a great dildo doesn’t have to be big, it doesn’t need to look anything like a disembodied penis, nor does it have to vibrate, glow or sing a tune. It just has to have a few nice bumps that are big enough for me to feel as it is worked in and out of me but not so big that they require too much warming up. I was so enamoured just looking at it sitting in the box that I almost forgot to take it out and see what else was hidden below it.

After untying the ribbon that held the pearl in place on top of a bed of soft black felt I found a veritable treasure trove of gifts underneath. All of Made to pleasure’s toys are sent out with a small, push button vibrating bullet as well as the batteries required for it to work. I swear it is these little touches that truly do Impress me. Also Included were two samples of “Pure Pleasure’ water based Lubricant, a sachet of “Pink” Silicone based lubricant and some alcohol wipes that can be used to sterilise the toy after use.

Made To Pleasure put a lot of research into their targeted female audience when they created their range and they found that most of us end up using our vibrators for clitoral stimulation. A finding I can’t disagree with. Of all the vibrators I have every single one has spent more time pleasing my clit rather than vibrating my G Spot. So I’m a big fan of using dildos and adding vibrations to them by just holding a bullet style vibrator against them. I’ve always been a fan of multifunctional products! When Made to pleasure discovered this trend within their targeted market they decided that creating perfectly shaped dildo’s to provide penetrative pleasure and teaming them up with simple, easy to use bullet vibrators was the key to satisfying their customers. You can either hold the bullet vibe against the toy to have the vibrations travel through it, or you can use it against the clit whilst thrusting with the toy. The latter is my personal preference, but I was surprised by how well the vibrations travelled throughout the toy.

This is the first toy I have owned that is made of this clear, acrylic like material (well technically it is a polymer but I’m no chemist!) but I really like it. It looks like glass and has all of the same material benefits off glass, but it feels much lighter and not so cold to the touch either. On a cool day I don’t need to warm it up before using it, yet if you wanted to use it for temperature play by warming or cooling it in the desired temperature water I can assure you that it performs well.

All of made to pleasure’s toys are 100% body safe, phthalate free, latex free and non porous. Cleaning is a breeze – just warm water and soap will do the job and a diluted bleach solution will sterilise it if you wish to use it with a partner. Alcohol, or alcohol wipes similar to those provided with the toy can also be used to ensure it’s fully sanitised and you don’t have to worry about the alcohol damaging the toys surface. Although it may seem that this toy would be a perfect candidate for being washed in the dishwasher the information sheet that came with the pearl says not to put it through the dishwasher.

The shape of the pearl is what makes it a great sex toy for me. I can easily discern each extra bump as it slides smoothly in and out of me. It can also be used either way – big end in or smaller end in. The smaller end in is usually how I start, switching it around once I’m getting into it. No matter which end I’m using I’ve found that there is more than enough for me to hold onto in order to control the toys movement. Even though it is a pretty straight toy I have found that if I angle it right I can get some good contact with my G-Spot. And maybe because I’m a sex toy reviewer, or perhaps just because I’m weird I decided to try it out as a kegel exerciser – and it really does do the job quite well. The only thing I wouldn’t recommend the pearl is for anal use, but (& this is the beauty of made to pleasure’s bespoke design system) you could easily alter its design and add a flared base to it to make it safe as an anal sex toy.

I’m not sure what I could do to improve upon the pearl using Made To Pleasure’s custom design interface – perhaps I could add an extra big buldge right at the end of it, but even then that may be overkill. Their toy testers are a closely guarded secret, but I believe they are one of MTP’s greatest assets. These ladies obviously know what works when it comes to sex toys – But you know what… If you don’t find yourself drooling over any of the 6 different off the peg designs you can always make your own adjustments and have Made To Pleasure create your perfect sex toy for you.
