Form 3 by Jimmy Jane – Sex Toy Review

When Black Label sex toys offered to send me my first Jimmy Jane sex toy I certainly wasn’t going to say NO! I was a little wary of asking for the form 2 due to its almost infamous “glitch” and thought that the form 3 would be a much safer bet…. but then again I kinda suck at betting!!

The Jimmy Jane Form 3

Since the very first time that I saw the form 3 I was intrigued by it and thought it would be the perfect toy for me and my particular style of getting off solo style. The images and video with the dancing white gloves made the form 3 look like a vibrator that would enhance the feelings created naturally by fingers rubbing and circling around the clit. It held promise of being the perfect mix between old school, fingers only masturbation and high tech mechanical masturbatory interactions.

I must admit that those white gloves really did draw me in, the concept of amplified touch is something I long for in a sex toy. It’s a huge shame that it fails to perform anywhere even close to its marketing claims of focussing and accentuating your own, natural touch. I think that whilst most of JimmyJane’s offerings are conceptually brilliant their reality’s are quite different.

Like most good, high quality vibrators it’s rechargeable and can give you many hours of pleasure from just a couple of hours of charge. The base of the form 3 has a magnetic, silver disc which is how the toy attaches to its charging base.  The power flows through from the base into the toy whilst also being held in place by the magnet. Of all my rechargeable toys the base is by far the best looking!  I know it may seem silly, but the form 3 looks really cool sitting there on top of its little charging block.in some ways it reminds me of a swimmer preparing to dive into the pool! Like many other sex toy companies that are creating quality rechargeable sex toys, the charger from JimmyJane that works with the form3 is also compatible with the form2 and the newly released form4 vibrator.

As you may or may not know I live in Australia – a country that has differently shaped wall sockets and plugs for our electricity supply. It’s a case of trying to fit a square peg in a round hole – rechargeable sex toys created for the US market simply aren’t compatible with our power points. Their two dead-straight prongs don’t plug into our sockets as our plugs have two prongs set to opposing diagonal angles. Thankfully though Black Label have the forethought and generosity to include a simple adapter – at no extra cost – that you plug into the wall and then plug the toys charger into. As our electricity supply is compatible voltage wise with toys made for the American market this little adapter is all we need to get the party started. It’s little things like this that make me love Black Label!!

The shape of the form 3 is pretty unique, a thin membrane with thicker edges that in some ways it resembles a tongue – but it’s also similar in size and shape to a computer mouse.

The rounded body area of the toy is where all of the mechanics are housed. When I first saw images and videos I thought that the thinner, tip of the toy would be where all the vibrations would be focussed. I naively thought that they had managed to somehow interweave the area of the toy that has direct contact with the body with micro-fine vibrating wires or something – I did say it was a naive thought. I just figured there had to be something more than just transfused vibrations going on in the parts of the toy designed to deliver the sensations – but I was wrong. The vibrations are created within the base portion of the toy and they travel through the thin membrane and the slightly thicker rim, but as they are transfused they become very diffused.

I must admit that I’m a bit of a buzz whore – I like strong, high powered, very focused vibrations when it comes to my clit. I also like deep, rumbley style vibrations – none of which I really found with the form 3. I also found that it didn’t come anywhere even close to ‘amplifying’ my touch – which if you watched the video you would kinda be expecting. When using the toy in the most intuitive way – to enhance the feeling of my finger alone I discovered that touching any part of the tip of the toy virtually nullified all vibrating sensations. It simply doesn’t do what I – and possibly other consumers would expect.

By far the best way to use the form 3 is to rub the thicker edges of the membrane along the clitoris and vulva, as long as you don’t place pressure on the toy (the kind of thing I intuitively do when I start getting worked up!). As long as you let it gently caress the area you will achieve results. The less you apply pressure or allow your fingers to ‘get in the way’ the better the resulting vibrations feel. Whilst this doesn’t suit me and my power hungry clit I know for a FACT that women who are more sensitive and prefer a much lighter touch are much more satisfied with the form3 than I am.

The initial two times I tried out the form 3 everything worked properly – the + button intensified the vibrations, – took them back down to turn them off and the cute ~ button switched between the 4 different patterns, the buttons are even placed in the perfect position. I wasn’t so excited about the fact that it didn’t have a quick shut off function, but quickly I forgot about that one minor issue when it began to make some strange noises.

Earlier I mentioned that its shape and size are similar to a mouse – but on its third and fourth tries it also began to sound like a mouse…making high pitched, squeaking noises. It seriously sounded like an electronic little mouse squeaking. The sound had a real ‘digital’ tone to it and made using the toy discreetly an impossibility! Not only does it amplify the volume, it’s also a pretty major turn off.  I asked about amongst those in the know to see if any other reviewers had a similar issue and I’m happy to report that no one else has had any sort of issue similar to mine, so I dare say it’s an anomaly. Thankfully it is covered by a 3 yr warranty so if I had really liked the toy I could get it replaced… but I don’t like it anywhere near enough to bother.

Taking care of the form 3 is quite easy, it’s waterproof so you can wash it in warm soapy water and just dry it off with a towel. Charging is easy as pie as the magnetic base guides it into the right position and holds it there while it re-fuels. As it is made from silicone it is best to stick with only water based lubes as silicone lubes could damage the materials. When storing try to keep it away from anything sharp as the membrane could get pierced or punctured which I’m sure would be a big disaster!

Whilst I wouldn’t recommend it to those who are big fans of high powered tools such as the Hitachi, I can see that there would certainly be people out there who would enjoy it. Either because they appreciate and prefer a much lighter touch or they have far more patience than me and like to enjoy extended foreplay. The light & buzzy vibrations could be great for teasing nipples and adding an extra dimension to blow jobs – the edge of the membrane placed against his perineum whilst the body of the toy vibrates against his balls.

My perfect sex toy is one that can imitate the touch of a skilled lover, or accentuate the sensations of your own finger – taking what our bodies naturally desire and enjoy and adding to them without major interference or invasion. The form 3 seemed like it could achieve this, but in practise it fell short. Hopefully in the future we will see sex toys and their technology advance to where such a thing is possible. If it hadn’t have given me such high expectations it may have faired a bit better, but it’s never going to make its way into my top drawer, let alone my top 5 sex toys. Whilst I do feel a bit bad, I need to be honest and say that it barely made the grade to get 2.5 stars from me.

I still look forward to trying out Jimmy Jane’s form 2 – Initially the newly released form4 held some allure however I’m not sure that it would suit my style.

I hate my theme

I don’t like the way my blog looks

When I first moved from my free hosting on wordpress.com to paid hosting with dreamhost I did so in order to be able to creativly control the look and feel of my blog and owning my own domain was just an added plus. I probably could’ve just paid to upgrade the options from wordpress.com, but it just isn’t financially wise when it’s cheaper to buy the domain & hosting independantly.

When I first set up my blog I was madly in love with my theme. The grungey feel is definitely ‘ME’ and the pink & black rocks too… but I don’t like it much anymore. At times it even stops me from blogging as I can’t always be bothered going and finding an appropriate image to have displayed on the main, magazine style front page.

I’ve searched high and low for other themes that suit my blog. One that fits both my personality as well as the subject matter whilst presenting a professional image – which is one of my big issues with this theme – It’s gone beyond grunge and into total pig sty territory. The way the boxes don’t line up and is just all screwy. I have found other theme’s that I like, even a few that come close to being absolutely perfect… but when another, much more prominent sex blogger starts using that theme it gets knocked out of the running.

So I’ve come to a point where I’m just going to have to create my own theme, maybe not from complete scratch, but very close to that. I found a theme with a structure I like, I’ve stripped the guts out of it. Tore it back to bare bones and am starting from there.

I know that I want to be able to write short posts of just a paragraph or two without having to find an image to go with it. I want these short posts to show on the main  page so readers don’t have to click deeper to read just a short piece. And I want to keep the right hand sidebar, but a much more tidy version.

I began building it last year and even have it to the point where just a few more hours and a couple of  lines of code could turn it into a functioning theme, but now I’m nowhere as in love with it as I was when I began on it. I love the cute little button and sexy pin up girl – but the theme feels too … pretentious, frilly and way to girly & mumsy for me. Not sure when I’ll get around to it, as I find it far more rewarding working on other people’s websites – but eventually I will turf this cruddy theme and try a new one out. I’ve been kinda Busy

I’ve been somewhat busy of late, working really odd hours and occasionally not making it to bed ’til noon the day after I sit down to start work. At one point I even began to develop RSI in my wrist, shoulder and back from typing and clicking away on my mouse for hours. But when you get to work with a client that is just a treasure to work with and for… well it’s more than worth it.

See when I’m not busy blogging, reviewing and masturbating I actually do design style work. I do Web Design, Graphic design, a bit of Sales & Marketing, as well as good old SEO. So for the past few weeks I’ve been working on creating a new website for one of the coolest sex toy companies that have designed and created a rather unique range of sex toys.

It’s been quite a journey building this nice, clean, simple static website … There have been online skype meetings where I’d be walking around the house trying to find the wi fi’s “sweet spot” whilst they listened to my Aussie Accent crackling and breaking up. Other days I would keep loosing my connection all together and then there was the meeting I completely missed due to being held hostage by a psycho (I wish I was kidding about that one!). At one point my whole CS5 suite went ca-put, then I caught a virus and lost a whole days work when the power cord fell out of my laptop (It has a dead battery that won’t re-charge!).

I have done some serious damage to people’s impressions of Australia – it’s been like sending morse code through a tin can connected to a string  hanging from a gum tree!

It’s been a little like the whole birthing process, long, arduous and painful – but well worth it to bring this new creation to the world … wide web!
