The Pink Swan

The Swan Collection of vibrators that are available within Australia are essentially the same toys that are available and known in the USA as the Vanity line of vibrators from Jopen. The differences in the products are minimal, but they include the color of the silicone, the names of the different models and the packaging and inclusions. At the end ofthe day the Swan Trumpeter is virtually the same toy as the Jopen Vanity VR9 at the end of the day.

When I was first offered the Swan Trumpeter for review I wasn’t as excited as I should of been. I’m a rabbit lover – My clit is normally the epicenter of my orgasms, but if it’s getting attention my vagina starts screaming for some too – So dual stimulator vibes really are my thing and the trumpeter just isn’t that style of vibe. I’m also a bit of a size queen so I doubted that the slender shafts of the Swan Trumpeter would feel satisfying – Yet I’ve fallen in love with it’s smooth, svelte, curved shaft and strong, rounded ends that are perfect to apply pressure and deliver high octane vibrations directly to the G-Spot.

Swan Trumpeter Vibrator

The Swan Trumpeter is a double ended vibrator; that is in the sense that it has two usable ends rather than one vibrator that can be used by two people at once. Its overall length is close to 10″ but the insertable, usable length of each end is close to 4″ which leaves a space of around 2″ in the center where the two control buttons are located.

The larger, more bulbous end has a maximum circumference of 5.5″  with a gentle curve which makes it perfect for G-Spot stimulation. Of the two separate motors in this vibe it is very easy to discern that the larger, more powerful motor is located within the rigid, larger end.

The rigidity of the larger end extends just slightly into the smaller end of this vibe allowing the top 3.5″ of the shaft to be incredibly flexible. It can even be bent as far back as 180 degrees (although I wouldn’t advise you do so as it certainly could damage the  inner wiring!) It has a much smaller, less robust motor than the opposite end, but still it is quite strong.  With the motor located right in the small spherical end it is perfect for delivering intense, pin-point style stimulation that I’ve not experienced in any other toy before.

The two control buttons are centrally located and are very intuitive to use. There aren’t any distinct levels of vibrations, rather the longer you hold down the control button the higher the vibration intensity. To switch the toy off you simply press the control button once to switch it off. This is terrific if you live in a situation where you may get interrupted, be it by kids or room mates, however it’s also a huge pain in the butt. I was seriously upset about the same issue in the VR5 – it is far, far too easy to accidentally switch it off during use. I’ve lost count of the times I’ve accidentally switched this toy off right at the most inopportune moment.

When you first receive your Swan Trumpeter it is already charged but you may find yourself unable to quickly switch it on – this is because it has the travel lock engaged. To unlock you simply hold both buttons down for 4-5 seconds after which the lights behind the buttons should flicker. To re-lock it in the future simply repeat the process of holding both buttons down.

Apart from the issue with accidentally switching it off my one and only other gripe with this toy – and the rest of the Vanity by Jopen range – is that they claim to be completely seamless silicone. A statement which simply isn’t true. It might be only very slight, but there  is certainly a discernible line running around the toy, the seam between the two halves is visible. It doesn’t have any impact on its use… but don’t call it seamless when the seam is so visible!  There is also a raised circle around the charging port along with some slightly raised logos and information on the back of the toy. Again it doesn’t affect its use, but felt it was worth mentioning.

The packaging of the Swan Trumpeter is absolutely awesome. I have to admit I’m a bit of a packaging whore. I love being able to keep toys in their boxes all nicely lined up and stacked as though they were shoe boxes! It isn’t what I’d call discreet packaging, rather it’s very informative and provides info on the product in numerous languages.

Included with the Swan vibrator is an instruction booklet, black satin drawstring storage bag and its charger. Along with the charger they supply 4 different inter-changeable plugs to allow it to be used with numerous international power point configurations. I could be wrong but I believe they are for Australia, America, the UK and possibly Europe or Canada.

As simple as it may seem this is one of my favourite elements of this product. When you buy an expensive sex toy you want to be able to play with it and use it without having to stuff around buying special plugs just to charge the darn thing. I hope more companies will take note of this and supply these simple attachments for us international customers!

My two favourite aspects of the Swan Trumpeter are the strength of its vibrations and its tremendous ability to conjure up squirting orgasms. The larger end seems to be able to sit up just behind my pubic bone in a position that allows it to continuously apply a medium amount of pressure to my G-Spot whilst leaving both hands free to do other things. Obviously thrusting with it creates even more stimulation, but I’ve gotten into a habit of using this one hands free internally whilst going to town on my clit with my mystic wand.  It’s also been quite popular in bed as my partner can still go down on me whilst using it to hit my often hard to find G-Spot. It’s got the curves I love on the nJoy Eleven just without the bulk that often gets in the way.

All in all this is a pretty damn awesome vibrator. I would love to give  it a full 5 stars but its infuriating habit of switching off if I accidentally bump the control button means it comes in at a pretty high 4.5 stars. If you are looking for a strong vibrator that is great for G-Spotting you really can’t go wrong with the Swan Trumpeter (or the VR9 in the USA). It might be a little more expensive than other vibes that look & seem similar, but it really does deliver when it comes to high powered vibrations, the kind I’m yet to find from another brand.

In the new year I want to get my car back and regain my independence. Being reliant on my ex for anything is really holding me back.

2. Do you make New Year’s Resolutions? If yes, what are they for 2012?

I often do make New Years resolutions and this year my biggest resolution is to find happiness & personal fulfillment.
Others include:

• Taking care of my health – I never want to let myself get as sick as I did for the majority of the last quarter of 2011 – but without the major stress of the past 18 months I can’t see me getting that run down again.
• Loosing Weight – I know it’s a cliched resolution but I think loosing weight will help all of my other goals
• Being sociable – I have avoided making friends for the past 3 years and it’s about time I get to know some people who live close to me instead of hours away.
• Write more – not just reviews and not just on my blog. I need to finish up some other writing projects and will hopefully have more opportunities to work with magazines like Cosmopolitan and Cleo.
• Work more – I hope to extend my passion for sex toys further into my offline life. I’d love to host sex toy parties if I could find a company with a half decent catalogue, or even better working in an actual bricks and mortar store – now that would be awesome!!
• Take time for myself – just some time for my soul to breathe and for my heart to completely disengage from all the failed relationships that it’s hurting over so that it can heal and be whole, ready for when I do meet someone worthy of it.
• Finally I want to finish the long overdue new theme for my blog.

3. What New Year’s resolutions did you make last year?

I resolved to write a review a week and be included in every edition of pleasurists, to review for at least one Australian manufacturer or retailer. I wanted to get my whole tribunal dealt with and finally let go of some of my sexual inhibitions.

4. Think of three of those resolutions, from last year. How did you do in keeping them?

I did fail at the review a week and being featured in every edition of pleasurists, but all of the others I achieved. I just hope that the same happens with this years resolutions.

5. What was your most memorable sexual happening/experience in 2011?

Well there was the one night when I broke my sexual drought – that was god damn awesome. As were the two times this year that I got to see -B – one of which resulted in my sex confession story featured in Cosmo’s January 2012 issue, and the other I’m working on writing up…. but both times were mind blowing.

Bonus: What was your most memorable experience (activity, event, etc.) in 2011?

I can’t reminisce about 2011 without thinking of finally winning my tribunal appeal against Centrelink (Thank Jude), but by far THE biggest, bestest experience of the year was my trip to QLD to see Foo Fighters AND Tenacious D with my son, -B and the guy who was once the love of my life¹ . It was the best experience of the past 2 years, one I won’t be forgetting anytime soon. Standing in a Mosh Pit with Dave Grohl right in front of me and having -B & the rockstar felt so surreal. It is a situation I would’ve dreamed about as a teenager and never ever would’ve believed it could happen – but it did, I was standing in my own wet (& very sweaty) dream.

The Worthy and the Worrisome

2011 has been a great year for me, my blog and my reviewing career. I have had the honour of test driving some truly awesome sex toys and adult products over the past 12 months, at the same time there were also some that were complete write-offs. There have been brand new toys released in 2011 as well as some classics from the past, there’s been simple concepts as well as incredibly inventive and innovative ideas reviewed here in the past year and today I wanted to celebrate and commiserate over the best and worst sex toys I’ve reviewed this year.

#1 Vibrator

#1 Is absolutely, without a doubt the LELO Insignia Soraya. It is my favourite vibrator, my favourite Rabbit  vibe and by far THE best vibrator I have reviewed on my blog this year. Its very flexible clitoral shaft and gently curved shaft make it as real winner in terms of dual stimulation, servicing both the clit and the G-Spot

It’s closely followed by the Vanity VR5 vibrator by Jopen – also known as the Swan Princess Vibrator in Australia. It has a few issues with where the buttons are placed, but boy is it a powerhouse. Its funny blob-esque shape and the curve of the shaft makes it awesome for delivering its strong vibrations directly to the G-Spot. **Whilst Jopen is a division of Cal Exotics the Vanity line is made by BMS enterprises and uses their super strong Power Bullet tm technology. There’s no way Cal Exotics could or would make such a great toy on their own.

Worst Vibrators

The title of the worst and most disappointing vibrating sex toy¹ of 2011 goes to the LELO Insignia Tiani. This toy long with the other two new additions to the Insignia line from LELO had so much promise, they were using innovative and revolutionary technology to create the ultimate ‘out in public’ style of couple’s toy. I swear that someone at LELO seriously dropped the ball and somehow managed to skip the whole testing phase of product development – they seriously should’ve caught  the fact that the remote signal isn’t strong enough to travel through flesh, thus making it un-useable.

The Form 3 from Jimmy Jane was also another major let down. From all the images and funny videos featuring a pair of white gloves demonstrating the toy it seemed as though this toy would work with your hand to ‘amplify’ your own natural touch. In reality it is a thin membrane that can’t carry vibrations and even the thicker edge and rigid body portions don’t do enough to arouse me let alone get me off.

Best Dildo

By far the best dildo that I reviewed this year was the G-Spot Lollipop - damn that thing is the perfect tool for gushing G-Spot orgasms. It comes in a multitude of sizes, colors and configurations and I honestly can’t say enough about how much I love my lollipop. It does all the magnificent things that the Eleven does but at a fraction of its cost.

I use this toy far more often than any other in my collection – that’s how awesome it is!!

Best Innovation

Again this is an easy choice… Made To Pleasure with their easy to use online design interface that allows you to design the sex toy of your dreams and then allow them to turn that dream into a reality. As well as such bespoke designs Made To Pleasure also have  a line of off the peg designs to choose from. I was lucky enough to get to review the Pearl from their off the peg range and was incredibly impressed by the luxurious, high class finish.

I must also mention Papaya Toys when it comes to best innovation of 2011 – although I’m yet to finish up that review² They have created a super awesome reversible battery pack. This means that when you are groping about in the dark to replace the batteries in one of their toys you can slide the battery pack back in whichever way you want and it works. My description doesn’t do it justice – but trust me it is truly awesome.

I have had the great pleasure of working with some phenomenal and amazing companies this year and have upcoming reviews for even more great products. It’s the little companies with brilliant ideas and concepts that I love to work with and support on my blog. 2. I know I suck

I’ve been sick for past 6 weeks, close to 40 days solid that have been filled with germs. A basic case of the flu turned into a chest infection which in turn developed into pneumonia. Two weeks or so ago I was starting to get better,  still exhausted and lethargic but I felt like the bugs had been killed off. Sadly I was wrong and the germs had yet again set up camp in my chest, they also began creating colonies in my ears, nose, throat and kidneys. My body is a total germ fest and I’m seriously falling apart.

I forget the last time I had the energy to get anything meaningful done, something that’s quite clearly reflected in my blog. No posts, no reviews, not even any tweeting – that’s how much of a mess I am! I even failed to announce the winner of my all on red giveaway when it ended which is just slack and in my head that’s just not good enough – so I apologise for the delay with that.

I also need to apologise that I’ve not posted any reviews lately, I’ve got a huge queue of toys waiting for review and I feel awful that I’ve not completed them, hopefully everyone can understand that at the moment the last thing I’ve felt like doing is playing with toys and I will never ever post a review of any product without using it multiple times and knowing just about everything I can about them. I feel guilty looking at the packages of sex toys lined up in the lounge room, but I know I’d feel far guilty-er if I were to try to fob off half baked reviews. No one has complained to me¹ so I hope people and the companies can understand my situation and have some empathy regarding the situation

Once these bugs are under control and I get some energy back I’m going to do my very best and churn out the reviews and catch up on my commitments. I won, I won, I mother-fucking won!

You would have to be a very long time reader or close follower on twitter to recall when my financial nightmare began back at the start of July last year…

Basically what happened was centrelink (the Australian govt agency in charge of social security style payments etc) decided that I was living in a marriage style relationship with my ex/flatmate/kid’s father and had been doing so since 2002. Their decision caused me to loose my weekly payments and in turn created a debt for every single cent they had paid me in that time – to the tune of around $180k. Not exactly the kind of sum one sneeze’s about.

We moved in together back in 2002 for a number of reasons, but the important point is that before I did anything I made sure that it was approved by centrelink. This approval was incredibly important because I was receiving their support due to being a single mother and the person I was moving in with is the father of my child. I realise it sounds immediately suspect, a single mum living with her child’s father – isn’t that like a large number of marriages?  However we weren’t in a relationship, we hadn’t been in one since our son was conceived over 6 years earlier. At the time we were both paying $260 a week rent on each of our own 2 bedroom units that were located just blocks apart. We both wanted our son to live in a house, have a yard and get a dog… but neither of us could afford it without the help and financial support of a flatmate. Who better for to be my flatmate in terms of my son  than his own dad? and so with the approval of centrelink we moved into a house that cost $350 a week and bought him a dog.

Over the years we would both fill out numerous forms regarding the nature of our relationship and how our household functioned… The fact that my ex (not the person I’ve called X  on my blog by the way) became an interstate truck driver in around 2004 certainly made it much easier to share a roof with him as he was rarely around. This is also when it became a matter of… If I didn’t share a house with him our son would never get to see him.

Anyway in July 2010 they took away my income support and raised one hell of a  debt. For a person who can spiral into deep depression at the snap of your fingers it wasn’t a good time for me. From the outset I knew I had to appeal the decision and immediately began that process, but as I had no idea what information they were basing their decision on so it was like stabbing in the dark – needless to say I lost the first two appeals and then had to have it bumped up to the next level and the social security appeals tribunal. And for at least the past year I’ve been putting together my case and fighting it – all the while having sweet F’ all money coming in. I’ve been living and supporting my son on only $100 a week so it has been harrowing – although I just want to say a huge thank you to every single person who has made purchases via my affiliate links as those funds are what made last Christmas possible and often made the difference between whether we could afford to eat or not. (I’m seriously not kidding)

Finally  I had my hearing back in September and have been waiting an excruciating 6 weeks and 1 day for their decision to arrive.

Finally today I got the appeals tribunal decision in writing.

I knew the outcome could go one of 3 ways

1. They up-hold the decision and find that I am living in a marriage like relationship and the debt needs to be re-paid.
2. They find that the relationship is marriage like and I’m not entitled to benefits, but as I had done my best to be honest with them and hadn’t been fraudulent in my actions they could suspend the debt. … OR
3. They find that I am not in a marriage like relationship and they reverse the debt along with back paying me the benefits I was entitled to from July 2010

And as you can guess they went with lucky number 3!!

Now I’ve just got to wait 28 days to see if Centrelink want to take this to the next level above the social security tribunal – and after reading some of the findings from my appeal the chances are they won’t (or at least that’s my hope!) after which I get reimbursed for the months where I’ve been struggling to keep food on the table.

Now I need to explain the Thank Jude bit.

This is going to sound god damned crazy, but I prayed for this outcome.

I got down on my knees and begged for this to go the right way. Little Miss anti-religion bargaining with Jesus and the saints for her life!  (whilst surrounded by an altar of sex toys of course! lol).

See there’s this saint – Saint Jude – patron saint of lost causes and those without hope – as well as Chicago Police apparently and of course St Jude Children’s research hospital…. Anyway…. there’s also a prayer and the deal is you say the  prayer 9 times a day for 9 days in hope of St Jude helping your cause, in return you must re-publish the prayer in thanks to Saint Jude for helping you out.

In the days before the internet you would regularly see it in the classifieds of the newspaper, and there was rarely a week when it wasn’t published in our local paper – often with the title ‘The Novena of St Jude’. These days there are numerous sites where you can o So as crazy as it may seem – here it is, I’m publishing it to hold up my end of this bargain..

I’ve used it before in times of desperation and it has never failed me. I can’t believe I didn’t turn to it with either of my earlier appeals, or at times when someone stepping in was really needed – but I’m also a strong believer in fate, so perhaps I was waiting for a time when I truly needed St Jude’s help.

I’m not a big religious person, but St Jude & St Anthony (Patron Saint of lost shit) I have all the time in the world for.

So …

Thanks St Jude you Rock!!

I found out about this and started writing this post on Wednesday but between lack of internet signal and a heavy dose of the flu have kept me offline and unable to publish it. In the meantime I took the time out to read the entire decision from front to back – It’s got 114 or so “reasons”, “findings and other blobs of legal jargon within it so it took a while to fully read and even longer to comprehend.

Turns out they had already investigated me… and not once, not twice, but three times.  So thrice they went through my life – and by life I mean LIFE – from my birth certificate, tax returns, and the stuff you expect the government to have  right on through to my bank statements dating back to when I opened it as a 9 yr old, utility bills, job applications, leases, even my medicare records that showed which doctors I saw – when people joke about them asking you the colour of your underwear… guess what they don’t need to ask as they already know. Back to the point I was trying to make, twice they went through my life and found that I was NOT living in a marriage like relationship with the guy. They did this in 2002, 2005 and 2008 (those forms I spoke of a moment ago were part of their investigations though I was told otherwise). So on top of the fact that they approved of my living arrangements before they began, three separate times they had raked through the dirt to check if I was in a relationship with him (without my knowledge mind you) and each time they concluded that I wasn’t. But in 2010 they re-investigate me and change their minds, finding that not only was I in a relationship with my ex in 2010, but that I had been all along.

WTF???

P.P.S Once this flu has gone hopefully things will go back to a bit of normalcy around here. Without the big dark cloud hanging over my head hopefully I’ll get the rest of my obviously late Red October posts typed up and published.

I have a confession to make… For the majority of this year I’ve not had sex. It almost broke me. It might not seem to be that big of a deal, but for a girl who has sex on her mind almost 24/7 a three month long, continuous drought is a bit of a major deal.

Nexus Range of Sex Toys have arrived Down Under

Upon signing a distribution deal for Australia the lovely folks from the UK based Nexus got in touch with me to see if I’d like to review some toys for them and help introduce them to my fellow Aussie natives – and of course I accepted. I’m not the type to turn such fabulouso propositions down. When a huge shipping container packed full of sex toys left the UK headed for our sunny little colony it had a huge box inside it with my name all over it. As you can see it was a pretty darn big box!

Nexus seriously don’t do things by halves – I think they sent me their entire line! But don’t go getting jealous just yet as some of them will be getting givenaway to some of my lucky readers!! whoo hoo!

It is definitely going to take me a while to get around to playing with all of these toys, let alone get all of their reviews written up so I thought I’d just share a sneak peek at just which toys Nexus have sent me to share with you – and if you have any questions feel free to fire away via comments or my contact form up the top there.

My collection of Nexus includes toys for everyone, no matter your sex or sexual orientation. Actually one of the coolest features of a number of the toys in their line, such as the G-Rider, is that their design is suitable for both male and female anatomy. Many of the toys are suitable for both G-Spot  and P-Spot (aka the male G-Spot, or the prostate) stimulation as well. As they are made of non porous, phthalate free, body friendly materials that can easily be sterilised they are perfect for sharing with a partner.

I’ve also got to tell you that their silicone is just awesome! It has a finish that they describe as ‘brushed’. A nice soft matte surface that is a little velvety and plush whilst still being beautifully sleek. It’s the nicest silicone that I have ever had the pleasure of fucking!

I think the most interesting toy that they have sent me is The Nexus iSTIM. An electro stimulation machine similar to the popular violet wand designed to be used for erotic electrostimulation. It can create sensations that range from soft, relaxing and even therapeutic right on through to the completely sadistic and painfully tortuous. It’s not a device for the feint of heart… ¹  but it creates out of this world sensations either through contact pads plasced on the  skin or via the attatchments that connect straight to some of the toys in the Nexus Range.

Two of the toys which I was sent easily attach to the iSTIM, The Nexus Neo and The Nexus Glide. Both of these toys are crafted from rigid plastic that is 100% body friendly and free from all the nasties such as Phthalates. They both feature a bulbous shaft with an angle that really helps it to hone in on the pleasure zones within both the male and female anatomy. Whilst they easily pair up with the iSTIM they are also great for non electrifying fun too.

Whilst these two don’t vibrate the Nexus Vibro is a different story. Fitted out with a 5 speed bullet that is controlled by its own little microchip it takes the concept of the Neo & the Glide to the next level of fun. And although I haven’t yet tried it with the iSTIM ((we don’t get along to well following a major electric shock, despite it being my fault it bloody hurt!) it does have the same shape and roller ball that the others have for connecting things up together.

The  other vibrating toys within the box include the Nexus G-Rider and the Nexus Ridge Rider – two toys that have bulbous shafts perfect to apply pressure to the pleasure points whilst backing them up with strong vibrations and unique bases. Both of these “rocking” toys have a curved base which allows you to really ride these toys against a hard surface such as a chair. With extra nubs on the base to help stimulate the perineum or the clitoris during use.

The shape of the two rockers is echoed in the Gplay trio. A beautifully boxed set of three soft silicone G-Spot vibrators in three sizes that range frim tiny to around a medium size. With the most amazingly soft silicone surface these could prove to be a perfect introduction for someone interested in experimenting with anal play, or those who prefer much smaller objects inside their vagina as opposed to me who likes to stretch the crap out of it!

Another vibrator included in my Nexus collection is the Nexus Isis – a sleek and sexy silver, stainless steel bullet like vibrator that features 10 different vibration patterns and vibration intensities. This really is a beautiful and well crafted piece. I feel somewhat honoured to have it in my collection. The combination of cold hard steel and vibrations is rather delectable.

The last vibrating toy I received in my box full of Nexus was the Nexus Max 5 which has scared the living crap out of the ex/flatmate. It’s another one of those G-Spot/P-Spot vibrators that is  quite large and a bit intimidating to look at for those who are anally inexperienced. To me on the other hand I love it as there are rows of bumps on the front that I can kind of grind against and the vibrations to the clit are quite intense as that is where the bullet sits in the toy.

The last two are also a little intimidating size wise. Whilst neither of them vibrate both the Nexus O and the Nexus Gyro do have large proportions. The Gyro can be used by any sex and it has a really cool spherical base, so just like the rocking toys you can sit down with this inserted and conjour up some unique sensations that you can’t get anywhere else. Although it has a shaft very similar to the other toys I’ve found that this is my favourite toy for anal play simply die to its weight as well as the funky roller base.

The Nexus O is one of the toys specifically for the bopys. Designed for one side to be inserted anally the other side applies pressure against the perenium right up behind your nuts. I’m yet to tempt the flatmate, or any other guy to take it for a wehirl for me… but I’m sure I’ll find someone up for the task.
