Sexiest Blogs of 2011 – Nominations now open

Each year for the past 3 years Rori from Between My Sheets has been putting together a list of the top 100 sexiest blogs in the world. The top 100  are decided upon by a group of esteemed judges (something I was very happy to get to do last year!) who check out, read and vote upon hundreds of sex blogs as nominated by the general viewing public.

Nominations for the top 100 Sexiest Blogs of 2011 are now open and there are even prizes up for grabs for anyone who nominates a blog.

The rules are all pretty easy when it comes to who you can nominate: The blog needs to be at least a year old and currently active. Blogs that are password protected cannot be nominated (although the odd password protected post here and there is fine) and you can’t nominate your own blog.You can read the full list of the rules on the nominations page.

You can nominate as many blogs as you want and the nominations close on August 31st 2011.

So what you waiting for? get nominating now.

Tweet Old Posts : updated

I wrote a post about my favourite wordpress plug-ins recently and one of the cooler plug-ins I mention was the ‘Tweet Old Posts’ plug-in – a plug-in that will help you to promote your blog posts by randomly choosing posts and tweeting about them to your followers.  Sadly at the time there was an issue with the latest wordpress builds and the plug-in wasn’t working.

Now I’m happy to report that ‘Tweet Old Posts‘ plug in has now been updated to work with wordpress 3.2.1. I’ve now got it up and running, twittering about my blog even when Im not online. Pretty cool huh?

You can either download it directly from the wordpress.org repository and then upload the zip file via your plug-in dashboard or you can simply search for it from within the same dashboard.

Once installed you should see a new ‘tweet old post’ sub menu on the left hand side of your dashboard. This is where you can adjust the various settings and activate the plug-in so that it can get to work tweeting about all of your amazing older posts that some of your newer followers may have missed.

It also gives you the option of using various url shorteners as well as how to format the tweet, how often to tweet and also letting you choose which post categories you don’t want to have tweeted about again.

Question for product reviewers

Small, quick and very simple post this one – I;m just trying to find out if and other reviewers use markup (be it html, microformatting or anything else) to help improve the visibility of your reviews in google search engine ranking?

Doesn’t matter whether you review sex toys, nappies or gardening tools – if you write and publish reviews online there is a way to help make them stand out in google’s results and I’m trying to find out if people realise this. And a little more importantly I want to know if enough people are interested in this for me to take the time to write up a bit of a tutorial on how to go about adding the extra markup to your reviews to help you get your reviews seen – and after all if your reviews are read it can equal sales for your sponsors and possible comissions for you.

So if you’ve heard of them or use them I’d love to hear how useful you find it, or if you just want to know more let me know that too and I’ll work on creating a guide to adding the correct markup/metadata to your reviews.

And just to prove I’m not totally bonkers and that “review mark up” does exist you can read about it on google. It’s been around for a while but is only just beginning to really make a difference as the google algorithm updates get rolled out across the globe.

Getting Your Blog Listed in relative Blog directories will both Increase traffic to your site and help increase your Page Rank, all of which in turn helps make your site more successful and if you are looking to get paid advertising it can assist you to earn more per advertisement.

More Coverage for your Reviews and Sex Related Posts

Pleasurists: Every time I publish a Review I always submit it to Pleasurists. For those who haven’t come across pleasurists yet, it is a weekly round-up of the latest sex toy and adult product reviews as well as the current give-aways. It costs nothing to submit your review or give away post to pleasurists, all you have to do is post the issue your links are appearing in on your blog. It is a great way to share your reviews with a wider audience as well as gaining the all important in-bound links as well as the traffic that comes via these links.

So the Whole Purpose of Adding your site to directories and getting people to link to you is to get your site or blog seen. How do you know if it is being seen? You can check lots of different factors such as the number of pages that link to your site on google or yahoo, or what your google Pagerank is, or Alexa Rating etc.

@Essinem – Essin-em.com- Sexuality Happens- Another blogger mentioned in My last ‘Weekend Reading‘ post of bloggers who’ve been burned by EF, as a former employee of the company she was also treated very disrespectfully.

@aagblog - aagblog.com – Also mentioned last week, Always Aroused Girl has also had to take the company behind EF to court in order to get money owed to her. See her blog for more info on her troubles with them as well as the breaking Scandal. Weekend Reading

Sex Starved Love

Welcome to Another weeks worth of Weekend Reading. I apologise for its lateness, but I had my publishing abilities suspended after linking to a site that WordPress.com had black listed. I have now removed the link to lubetube the offending site and can hit the publish button once again.

This week two particular ‘themes’ or ‘situations’ that fall under the banner of ‘All things Sexual’ have really gotten under my skin. #1 is relationships where partners sexual drives are out of balance. #2 is people being fired or otherwise being discriminated because they write about sex online. (I’m sorry that there are so few blogs on this weeks reading list – my browser crashed & erased not only all the tabs I had open, but their history too grrr…Look out for a mid week reading list lol)

I know far too many truly amazing guys who are married or partnered up with truly ungrateful women. Men that long to tease, please, spoil and pleasure their partners both in and out of the bedroom but are being denied the satisfaction of bringing sexual pleasure to the woman they love. But it isn’t a one way street as their are plenty of women who long to suck and fuck their men til the cows come home out their being ignored.

This is a hole I could so easily fall into. With twitter accounts being linked to your email address you too could find yourself in hot water for expressing your sexual thoughts and feelings in tweets. Not all of these blogs and articles are from people who got fired…but they all found themselves in some uncomfortable situations due to sexual tweets!!

Why I Love Blogs

The how & the why behind the fact that I ♥ blogs so much

I’ve been working on putting together this weeks ‘Weekend Reading‘ post, however I ended up writing about why I love reading blogs and how I go about following them. I ended up so far from simply listing this weeks worth of favourite blogs that I thought I should simply create a post from it… So here it is.

One of the reasons I love to read peoples blogs is because they are written from their owner’s personal point of view – well duh!! – but what I mean is that I find blogs to be so much more personal and insightful than other forms of written media. Bloggers usually don’t have a boss to answer to, nor a set of rules to follow etc, they are writing to simply share themselves.  Most bloggers are sharing the most vulnerable parts of themselves, the parts that they cannot share with those people involved in their everyday life. I guess it appeals to the voyeur in me.

The connection between writer and reader is so much closer and intimate through blogs. A relationship that seems to grow over time as you follow them through the trials and tribulations of their lives. There are plenty of ways to follow blogs, you can bookmark them, subscribe to their rss feed and read their latest posts via your favourite reader – such as google reader, some (such as mine) you can subscribe to via email and you can often follow the author of a blog on twitter to be kept up to date as to their latest posts.

I personally follow my favourite blogs via twitter, and subscribe to their rss feeds via google reader. However I use an add on to my Fire Fox browser called ‘feedly‘ to have all of my favourite blogs I subscribe to via google reader  sorted and presented in an online magazine style page. It them all together in one place, in a super easy to sort through and read layout, All of which I can access with one click on the icon next to the address bar in Firefox – So please do Check Feedly out.

Most of my favourite blogs that I follow are linked to in the sidebar, or at the bottom of the page in my blogroll. My Rss Feed can be subscribed to via the little orange icon at the top of every page, or you can follow me @VioletScreaming on twitter. If you have any problems with subscribing to my feed or to any other sites feeds feel free to comment or contact me for help.

#1 – Yes I have used a cell phone – or a mobile phone as us people down under call them – for both the sending and receiving of racy images and messages. I have conducted a pseudo long distance relationship via txt messages. My only problem was always hitting send to early, accidentally erasing long messages before sending them as well as accidentally sending something slightly sexual to the wrong person **FacePALM**

#2 Yes I have. Way, way, way back when webcams were first out, back in the dial up dinosaur days, my husband & I had sex whilst others watched us online. It was pretty cool. I have no idea if there’s footage of it out there floating around, but I doubt it. I’m not sure that I would do the same thing now though. With sites like youporn & porn tube I would be too worried it would end up somewhere like that!

#3 I don’t have cyber sex. I’ll text things, but typing whilst masturbating – not my thing. I like my hands to myself – and would never use a cam for such purposes – for the same reason I wouldn’t repeat #2

#4 Yes, Almost everyday. But not always for sexual pleasure and only rarely with a partner. Lately it’s been more for the purposes of this blog as opposed to looking at or watching it for sexual gratification or release.

#5 X-Rated content is far too easy to access, Any one of any age can view X rated content online. And with so many new sites and feeds being created it is difficult to keep on top of them all in order to block their use on your computer. With programs like net nanny etc. to prevent our kids from seeing things they shouldn’t be.

I will even ‘man up’ and admit to my own failures in this category – 1) If you use the family ps2 to view a pornographic film – remember to remove it before your kids go to play their favourite game. This was very embarrassing, but nothing more than the DVD’s title was seen. & 2) I have fallen afoul of my browser’s address bar remembering past sites I have visited and the auto-complete feature. – youporn.com came up when my teenage son was trying to go to youtube.com. Luckily their landing site meant he saw nothing – but again..embarrassed! lol. I’m not naive – I know my son most likely has and will view naked women at some point soon in his life. I just don’t want him seeing what I’m seeing!!! It is one thing to steal a copy of your dads playboy magazine, but following mums online viewing – it seems totally different, I think it would cause him great embarrassment too. He now uses chrome whilst I stick to firefox.

However as he has his own iPod touch, he can access online media without me ever knowing – so again. Yes it is too easy to access.

BONUS QUESTION: I do think they can work. Love is a powerful force, and if you are truly in love you can face any hurdle as long as you are willing to fight for that love.
